Yvonne A. Thorson

Yvonne A. Thorson, age 97, of Mondovi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Hillview Assisted Living in Mondovi.

She was born on September 6, 1926 in Eau Claire to the late Edward and Sadie (Wold) Borgwardt at the Parsonage of of Trinity of Norden Lutheran Church

On September 6, 1944, Yvonne was united in marriage to Merle Tillman Thorson, and to this union, four sons were born.  Merle preceded Yvonne in death on February 12, 2000.  

Yvonne was a proud homemaker, but she did work seasonally at Huntsinger's farm in Eau Claire.  Yvonne was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 154 of Mondovi.

Yvonne will be remembered for her love of baking, especially Lefse.  She enjoyed time fishing with her husband on Lake Pepin and later, on Long Lake with their son and even though she didn't like to eat strawberries, Yvonne would love to spend hours just picking fresh berries for everyone.

Yvonne is survived by her sons, Thomas Thorson, John (Jane) Thorson, Gerald (Cindy) Thorson and Ricky (Mary) Thorson; also by grandchildren, Dale, Greg, Michael, Leif and Erika, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild on the way along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Merle, she was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene and Virgil; sisters, Evangeline and Carol and daughter in law, Jane Thorson, wife of Thomas.  

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel, with Michael Isaakson officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Mondovi.  A memorial gathering will be held on hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
