Wilma C. Synstad, age 102 of Mondovi, formerly of Nelson, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the American Lutheran Home, Mondovi. She was born on October 9, 1915 in Nelson, WI, the daughter of Herman and Alma (Brommer) Vogt. Wilma attended Nelson High School. She married Roy Synstad on May 28, 1938 at the Lyster Lutheran Church. They were able to share 59 years together before Roy's death on December 13, 1997. Wilma dedicated her life to the church and was a devoted Christian. She was a life-long member of Lyster Lutheran Church. She played the organ at church for many, many years. Until recently, she was still playing piano for the church service at the American Lutheran Home. Wilma won an award from a radio station in Minnesota for writing a story about how she and Roy met while she was working as a school teacher at Norwegian Valley school. Wilma loved her family dearly and was an attentive and supportive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Wilma will be sadly missed by her daughters, Joan Meyer of Mondovi, Sonya (Carrol) Iberg of Alma and Karen Schroeder of Victor, ID; son, Robert (Dorothy) Synstad of Watertown, SD; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; son-in-law, Herbert Meyer; sister, Lucille and brother, Carl Vogt .
A funeral service will be held at Lyster Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Michael Vetsch officiating. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes - Mondovi Chapel on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm and then again at church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
