Wesley Anton Mahlman, age 95, of Alma, passed away on Monday evening, January 14, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Wabasha.
He was born in Mill Creek on May 16, 1923 to the late Anton and Mathilda (Loewenhagen) Mahlman.
On June 4, 1945, Wesley was united in marriage to Delma Karrow in Wabasha.
Wesley worked as an auto mechanic of 20 years and then as a master mechanic at Dairyland Power, retiring after 28 years of service. Wes always enjoyed his work at Dairyland and being with his fellow employees.
Wesley was a dedicated member of the Alma United Methodist Church in which he faithfully served in many capacities. He was also a member of the Alma Lions Club and volunteered his time as a server at the senior center.
Some of his lifetime leisure activities were boating, snowmobiling and gardening. Wesley was also an avid sports fan especially for the Green Bay Packers.
His most treasured love was time spent with family and friends.
Wesley is survived by his wife, Delma; daughters, Judy Hager of Vacaville, CA and Jeanne (Charles) DeVoe of Wausau; 6 grandchildren, Patty (Ron) Wall, Peggy (Bob) George, Ronald Hager (Joan Rausher), Teresa DeVoe (Eric Menhart), Connie DeVoe and Cheryl DeVoe; 12 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sisters in law, Avis Fluekiger of Alma, Evelyn Hall of Newbury Park, CA and Mary Weber of Menomonie; also by nieces and nephews.
Wesley was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Richard, Ervin and Felix, 2 sisters, Antonia Hubenthal and Rose Wallberger; brothers in law, Charles Hubenthal, Fred Wallberger, Rodney Thoeny, George Hall, Joseph Weber and Walter Fluekiger; sisters in law, Caroline Mahlman, Ilene Mahlman, Opal Mahlman, Inez Thoeny and Janice Thompson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel with Pastor Lisa Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Alma Memorial Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 noon until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
