Wayne Allen Loewenhagen, age 62, of Nelson passed away suddenly on Friday November 28, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
He was born on November 18, 1952 in Wabasha the first of 5 children born to Marvin C. and Leila (Kimmel) Loewenhagen.
Wayne attended Alma Area Schools, graduating with the class of 1970. He went on to further his education at the former District 1 Technical Institute, now known as CVTC in Eau Claire, graduating in 1972 with an associate degree in accounting.
Wayne will be remembered for working at or owning several different businesses throughout the area. He was a tax preparer at H & R Block, the Clerk for the City of Alma, He owned and operated the Alma Meat Locker, was not only a school bus driver but also drove coach buses across the United States. Wayne owned and ran the Pepin Theatre and also the Park View Café also in Pepin. He ran and operated Classic Ventures a travel agency shop out of his home in Alma.
For several years, Wayne was, was a member of the Alma Snow-drifters snowmobile club, serving in several different officer positions. He was currently a member and the treasurer of the Alma Fire Department and honorably served on the department for over 30 years.
Wayne had a soft and tender heart with a personality to match, one that kids of all ages and his family adored. Wayne’s life would change in 2010, when he fell in love with his soul mate and now fiancée, Candace Sumner where they enjoyed autumn rides through the countryside or just spending quiet times together.
Those left behind to cherish Wayne’s memory are his fiancée and soul mate, Candy of Nelson; his mother, Leila of Mondovi; his siblings, Dennis (Kathy), Curtis (Barbara), Janet (David) Baum and Calvin all of Alma; also by 8 nieces and nephews; 1 great niece; 2 great nephews and many, many friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Marvin.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel with Pastor Joel Bacon, officiating. Burial will follow at Alma Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday December 1 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday one hour prior to the service all at the funeral home.
