Verlaine V. Averbeck, age 88, of the Town of Waumandee, Buffalo County, WI passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Mayo Clinic, Methodist Campus in Rochester.
Verlaine was born on July 26, 1933 at the home in the Town of Belvidere, the daughter of John and Elsie (Loewenhagen) Loesel.
She attended Little Bluebell Grade School and graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1951.
On August 21, 1951, Verlaine was united in marriage to Julius Averbeck at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma. It was two years later in 1953 that Verlaine and her husband moved to Waumandee.
Verlaine was a longtime and faithful Parishioner of St. Boniface Catholic Church where she was an active member of the PCCW.
She was also active with the Waumandee-Montana Community Club and the Trailblazers Snowmobile Club.
Verlaine enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, sewing quilts and trips to different casinos in the area. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mom, grandma and great grandma.
She is survived by her husband of the past 70 years, Julius; 4 sons, Michael (Lori) of Holmen, Randel (Barb) of Cream, Kevin of Waumandee and Wayne (Sarah) of Le Sueur, MN; her daughter, Tracie (Terry) Rasmussen of Fountain City; grandchildren, Amy (Russ) Kuehn, Lance (Jessica) Averbeck, Eric (Elizabeth) Averbeck, Samuel (Emily) Averbeck, Tyrone (Ashley) Lingenfelter, Brandi Lingenfelter and Isabella and Anabella Averbeck; step grandchildren, Anne, Pam, Samantha and Amanda; great grandchildren, Emma and Liam Lingenfelter, Addison Kuehn, and Oakley and Olivia Averbeck; step great-grandchildren, Nora, Chloe, Clayton, Adley, Octavia and Reece; and several adopted great grandchildren that she thought of as her own; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Besides her parents, Verlaine was preceded in death by her sisters, Lila (Ray) Iberg, Edna (Francis) Smith, Eileen (Willard) Denison, Mabel (Clarence) Mueller, Florence (Odell) Youngbauer and Dorothy (Earl) Ruff and her brother Levi (Vila) Loesel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 12:00 noon at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee with Father Arul Doss as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. A visitation will also be at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the Mass.
