Tom A. Richards

Thomas A. “Automobile” Richards, age 56 of rural Mondovi, WI passed away unexpectedly at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with his loving family at his side. Tom was born on December 11, 1957 in Fairchild, WI to George E. and Eldora Lydia (Thur) Richards. On May 10, 1982, Tom was united in marriage to Bonnie Kummer in Alma, WI. Together they raised three sons, Tommy, Danny and George. Bonnie preceded Tom in death on January 3, 2006. Seven years ago, Tom met his special love, Christy. Together they had a son, Nova. Tom was the owner and operator of Richard’s repair which he did what he loved; fixing and repairing cars. It has been said that if it had an engine you would find Tom under the hood. Simply put, Tom loved cars and even more loved the time with his sons restoring old vehicles, especially the ’57 Chevy. Tom and his sons also spent many hours together building race cars. It was Tom’s pride and joy to travel to the different race tracks watching his sons race and hold up trophies at victory lane. Tom liked country music and had an admiration for Johnny Cash. He will be remembered for his love of NASCAR and his ability to have a witty comeback to most any comment. Without question, Tom’s greatest love was for his family and watching his boys succeed. Tom will be sadly missed by his four sons, Tommy “Bud” (Kayla), Danny (Carey), George (Missy) and Nova; his special love and mother to Nova, Christy and her children, Katlynn and Whitney; his four precious grandchildren, Col, Kaylie, Keauna, and Adalynn; siblings, Julie Smith of West Point, TX; Jimmy Richards of Wichita Falls, TX; Mary Fairbanks and Larry Richards both of Montello, WI and Jeannie Bowden of Waskom, TX; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends. Besides his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bonnie. A celebration of Tom’s life will be at Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden, Mondovi, WI on Saturday March 22 at 12:00PM until the time of service at 3:00PM with Pastor David Bangert officiating.
