Terrel “Terry” Lee McDonough
known to family and friends as Dad, Terry, TMcD, Terrel, Gooch, lover of travel, reading, straight shooter, teacher passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
Terry came into this world on May 17, 1945, the third child of Dorothy and Russell (Mickey) McDonough. He attended school in Nelson and Durand before he graduated from UW Stout in 1968 with a degree in Industrial Education and was a member of Kappa Lambda Beta. On 1968, he married Jane Scharr. They lived in River Falls, and Terry worked for 3M before returning home to Nelson to purchase the Twin Bluff Bar. After they sold the bar, Terry worked for Brunkow Hardwoods and later for Passe Electric. In 1984, Terry returned to Stout where he completed his Masters in Industrial Arts. After that he started his own business, Twin Bluff Electric, where he worked with his son-in-law, Dan. He was an active member of the community having served on many boards, a Nelson Lion club member and was a former volunteer firefighter.
Terry was the loving dad of Sara (Dan) Elsenpeter and Brittany (Ron) Pankey. Proud grandpa of Elizabeth, Emma, and Greyson. Brother of Gaye (Dan) Larson and Michael (Carol) McDonough. Brother- in-law of Cindy Scharr. Further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, former spouse April McDonough and a multitude of friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, parents, Dorothy and Russell (Mickey) McDonough, in laws, Wally and Lois Scharr and brother-in-law, Richard Scharr.
He will be deeply missed by those he loved and those who loved him.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma with Pastor James Clausen officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service all at the funeral home.
