Susan Marie Blomstrom

Susan Marie Blomstrom, age 57 of Pepin, WI passed away peacefully on Friday March 7, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Wabasha, MN. Susan was born on December 7, 1956 in Middletown, CT to Glen and Dessa (Tiedeken) Preuhs. Sue grew up and graduated high school in Madelia and Red Wing, MN. Sue and her daughter Tracy lived in Maiden Rock, WI where she was employed as a bartender. Sue met the love of her life, Chuck Blomstrom in 1979 and they were wed in July 1980 in Maiden Rock. They lived in Maiden Rock for 21 years, then moving to Pepin, where they presently had resided. Sue worked at Josten’s in Red Wing for a few years, and in the mid 90’s went to technical college in Red Wing for Computer Technology. Sue most recently, for the past 6 years worked as the manager at the Red Ram in Alma. Sue enjoyed her time spent being a devoted mom and wife. Her favorite pas time was flower and vegetable gardening, or simply just being outside pulling weeds. Sue’s true gift was the ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone, she loved to talk. She was a genuine “people person”, never forgetting a person she might have met years ago. Her personality shined with her out going nature. Sue loved children and family; and family not only meant her own, but so many she considered “family” that she welcomed into her life. Sue will be sadly missed by her husband Chuck, her daughter Tracy (David) van Eijl of Elgin, MN, their children Hollind van Eijl, Graham Gillmore, Vivian Gillmore, Francesca van Eijl, and Escher van Eijl; Susan’s parents Glen and Dessa Preuhs of Keystone Heights, FL, and by Aunts, Uncles and a niece, cousins, and countless friends. Sue was preceded in death by her sister Nancy, and brother Tony. A celebration of Sue’s life will be at the Talbot Family Funeral Homes in Alma, WI on Wednesday March 12 at 12:00 PM until the time of service at 1:00PM.
