Shirley Ruth (Muller) Schmidt, age 76 of Fountain City, WI passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at her home. Shirley was born February 11, 1938 to Karl and Sophia Muller in LaMoille, Minnesota. She had three brothers, Richard, Alvin and Robert. She married Roger Schmidt on December 1, 1956 in Galesville, WI. They lived in the surrounding area for 12 years, then moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she worked for Wilson Foods. They lived in Iowa for 22 years before they moved back to Wisconsin to Oak Valley in Fountain City in 1988. Roger and Shirley had five children, Bruce (Ruth), Valerie, JoAnn (Jim) Pruitt, Joel (Shelli) and Jimmy and grandchildren , Amy Lantz, Rebecca (Brandon) Allen, Robert and great grandson, Daniel. She was preceded in death by two of her brothers and daughter, Valerie. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winona. Shirley loved watching birds, flowers, quilting and long “Gator” rides with her husband Roger of more than 52 years. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed until reunited in Heaven. Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Winona on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at Waumandee Public Cemetery in Waumandee, WI. A visitation will be at the Talbot Family Funeral Home in Cochrane, Wisconsin on Wednesday, June 4th from 4-7 PM. Talbot Family Funeral Homes was honored to assist the family.
