Shirley Ann Parr, age 86, of Mondovi, passed away on Friday, August 31 at Oak View Care Center, Durand. She was born on March 20, 1926 in Mondovi, a daughter of the late George and Louise (Schultz) Lubinski. On February 26, 1948 Shirley was united in marriage to William H. Parr in Stillwater, MN and to this union, four children were born. William preceded Shirley in death on October 1, 1993. Shirley, for many years, was an employee at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi in the housekeeping department. She also held a seasonal position at Huntizinger Farms. Before her long career at the American Lutheran Home, Shirley work approximately five years at Ashley Furniture. Many in the community will remember the “Parr Bar” on Hudson Street in Mondovi, an establishment owned and operated by Shirley. Shirley was a longtime, faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi where actively served on the Altar Society and the PCCW. She was a life member of the Mondovi American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries. In Shirley’s younger years, she enjoyed playing golf and bowling both in leagues or just for pleasure. Shirley loved to spend time outdoors, in her flower and vegetable gardens, going on walks or snowmobiling. Other activities Shirley will be remembered for were her casino trips and playing cards. Her greatest attribute was her humane and giving heart which was always caring for animals in need. Shirley’s family include her four children, Mary Mikesell of Mondovi, John (Judy) Parr of Durand, Tony (Beth) Parr of Hudson and Jeff (Jeri) Parr of Eau Claire; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband William, a sister, Eileen Dillon and brother Bud Lubinski preceded Shirley in death. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mondovi. Inurnment will be at Oak Park Cemetery at a later date. A memorial gathering will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the hour of the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Shirley’s name appreciated to family wishes.
