Ronald Lee Markey, age 80, of Nelson, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Kinnic Health and Rehab in River Falls.
He was born May 5, 1938 in Durand, WI a son of Herman and Caroline (Nold) Markey.
Ron attended Nelson High School and graduated from Durand High School following the closing of the Nelson High School.
Ron honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army.
On November 1, 1969, He married Marilyn Lammo at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand. To this union, two sons were born. Ronald and Marilyn lived in Nelson their entire married life.
Ron was a longtime employee at Wabasha Ready Mix as a truck driver.
He will be remembered for his love for the outdoors, where he found enjoyment as a hunter and for his first love of trapping.
Ron is survived by his son, Randy Markey of River Falls; 3 grandchildren, Hailee, Abbey and Rowdy Markey all of River Falls; also by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, son, Jason Markey and sister Florice Jahnke.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Nelson Cemetery in Nelson WI with Deacon Ed Wendt officiating. A celebration of life will follow at the Nelson Community Center.
