Rube Davis, age 79, of Alma WI passed away Saturday the 25th of May at Sauer Nursing Home, Winona surrounded by his loving family. He was born Ronald Martin Davis to Glen and Cleo (Thorson) Davis in Mondovi WI. He graduated from Mondovi High School in 1952. Rube met Joyce, his wife of 56 years, while working for Tri-State Construction and went into the army in 1957. He and Joyce farmed in Alma for a number of years before he became a lineman at Buffalo Electric where he worked for many years. Rube was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Alma Rod and Gun Club.
Rube was steadfast in providing for his family both in times of adversity and prosperity. He was a friend who could be counted on in times of need and loved enjoying a good joke, a good smoke, and a round of beers. In later years, when his body and mind began to fail him, his strength proved to be his ally and he endured his failing health with all he could muster until his Lord and Savior called him home.
Rube will be sadly missed by his wife, Joyce of Alma; two daughters, Carrie Magnuson of Clayton, WI and Karen (Scott) Bergman of Brooklyn Park, MN; five grandsons, Jordan and Tyler Magnuson and Nicholas, Jacob and Nathan Bergman; one sister, Ruth Ann (Richard) Davis of La Crescent, MN; sisters and brother in law, Beverly Dennis of Lebanon, OR, Frank Mattie, Jr., Phyllis Kamin both of Trego, WI, Barbara Duvall of Mill City, OR and Nancy Lee of Lebanon, OR; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Rube was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine (Kenneth) Hageness and brother, Richard (Judy) Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Alma, with Pastor Joel Bacon officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel and again on Wednesday one hour prior to the service, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of Rube Davis to St. John Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
