Roger W. Arneson

Roger W. Arneson, age 79, of Mondovi, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Mayo Health Systems, Eau Claire. He was born on August 23, 1937, the son of Sever and Hilda (Weiss) Arneson. Roger was a proud veteran and honorably discharged. Roger married Rena Peterson on November 10, 1962, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Durand. They were able to share 40 years together before death on December 10, 2002. For many years, Roger and Rena worked side by side on the family farm. He was lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Canton. Roger served on many boards such as; the Country Side Cooperative, St. Paul Lutheran Church and Ma & Pa Bowling League. He enjoyed playing in the church Dart Ball League, watching the Packers and gardening. Roger was also an avid bowler and card player, especially Sheepshead. He enjoyed taking trips with Rena and friends and also enjoyed trips to the casino. Roger will be sadly missed by his son, Jeff (Tammy) Arneson of Mondovi; daughter, Lisa (Paul) Wayne of Durand; four grandchildren, Chris Arneson, Caitlin Arneson, Amber (Scott) Schantner and Jared Wayne; two great-grandchildren, Madison Sam and Brier Schanter; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rena and brothers, Allen and Keith Arneson. A funeral service will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church, Canton on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 2 pm with Pastor Daniel Pfaffe officiating. Burial will be held in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held at church on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service.
