Robert "Bob" Zeichert

Robert Oscar Zeichert, age 91, a lifelong resident of Fountain City, WI passed away at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse, WI. He was born on April 22, 1925 at the home of his parents, Theodore and Flora (Schaffner) Zeichert. Robert was the youngest of four children. Robert was a lifetime, baptized and confirmed member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Fountain City. He married Verna Mary Kurth of rural Alma, WI on May 30, 1946. Robert and Verna celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past May. He worked at La Crosse Milling Co. in Cochrane, WI and retired from Peerless Chain Co. in Winona, MN on October 1, 1987. In retirement, Robert enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for his grandchildren and tending to his yard, all of which were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed vacationing with his wife to Arizona and Texas where they both loved time spent with special friends. Robert will be sadly missed by his wife, Verna of Fountain City; daughters, Diane (David) Glodowski of Fountain City, WI, Donna (Ray) Bronson of Red Wing, MN, and Debra Bohlinger of Minneapolis, MN; 9 grandchildren, Janelle Glodowski of Wauwatosa, WI, Nicole Glodowski of Wauwatosa, WI, Emily Glodowski of Oswego, IL, Elizabeth Glodowski of Fond du Lac, WI, Theodore (Amanda) Glodowski of Goodhue, MN, Scott (Laura) McFarlin of Monticello, MN, Michelle (Chris) Nelson of Winona, MN, Wendy (Johnn) Hedges of Cummings, GA, and Tanya (Jonathan) Moore of Mooresville, NC, and 5 great grandchildren; Kailey, Barry and Garrett, and Kayla and Laura. Preceding Robert in death were his parents; a son, David; brothers, Henry and Norman; sister, Ferne (Duane) Baertsch; grandson, Christopher Bohlinger; nephews, Henry “Jim” Zeichert and William “Bill” Baertsch. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 1:30 PM at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Fountain City, WI, with Pastor Paul Jansen officiating. Burial will be at the Herold Cemetery in rural Alma. A time of visitation and sharing memories will be held at the church on Sunday one hour prior to the service.
