Robert (Bob) Allen Therring was born December 9 th , 1944 to Dominic and Helen Therring from Buffalo County. Bob passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Assisted Living on September 18 th , 2020.
Bob grew up in Buffalo City, WI, which he remained for much of his life. He started working at Badger Foundry in Winona in 1961, which he worked for 47 years, many of those years in the molding department, and later in the pattern shop department. He enjoyed deer hunting with his son and was
an avid race car fan, having spent many years working on stock cars in the Ft City area, spending time at the Tri-Oval Speedway, later to become Mississippi Thunder Speedway. As he grew older, he monitored local racing and NASCAR very closely, cheering on Dale Earnhardt every chance he could.
Bob was proceeded in death by his parents and Rita (Vilas) Helwig. Bob is survived by his sisters: Betty (Roger) Spaulding of Winona, Deb (Mike) Wise of Fayetteville, Georgia, Mary Therring of Minneapolis, his son Jeff (Jennifer) Therring, 2 grandchildren, Joshua and Jaelynn all from Hayfield, Minnesota. He also had 2 stepchildren Terri Brueggemann, with 2 grandchildren Rob and Amanda and Shari Opell with 3 grandchildren Kelly, DJ, and Marc.
A Memorial Service will be held at Talbot Funeral Home in Alma on October 7 th , 2020 at 11:00am. Visitation will begin at 10:00 until the start of the service, followed by internment at the Buffalo City Cemetery, and a small meal following at the VFW in Cochrane.
