Robert Donald Rudy, age 98, of Mondovi, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Hillview Assisted Living in Mondovi with his family at his side.
He was born on November 6, 1926 in Fisken Valley, Buffalo County to the late Bennie and Lillian (Siegler) Rudy.
On June 9, 1951 Robert was united in marriage to Betty Jane Jackson at the Trinity of Norden Lutheran Parsonage. To this union, five children were born. Betty Preceded Bob in death on September 28, 2010Together, Robert and his wife resided and raised their family in Gilmanton.
Together, Robert and his wife resided and raised their family in Gilmanton. Bob owned and operated a dairy farm for many years until 1982, when his son, Donnie, took over the farming operations. Bob and his wife then moved to Modena and Mondovi area. It was in the fall of 1999 Bob and Betty built a home in Mondovi, along Sand Rd. Even though Bob physically left the farm in 1982, his heart never did. He was a farmer through and through and was the epitome of what a farmer was in his era. Farmers, such as Bob, are the farmers that made Wisconsin, America's Dairyland.
Bob was a faithful member of Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi.
Bob had excellent woodworking abilities and would make wooden toys, such as cranes, trains or trucks to name a few. Many of his wonderful creations can still be found in the homes of his children and grandchildren. These gifts that he made with his own hands have now become precious Rudy family heirlooms.
Bob will be sadly missed by his children, Don (Linda) Rudy, Jane (Dave Green) Johnson, Nancy (Jim) Plett, Cindy (Jeff) Wise and Sharon (Roger) Christopherson; 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one on the way; 5 great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and beloved wife, Betty, Bob was preceded in death by twin sister, Ruth (Dale) Meyers, brother, Clifford (Marian) Rudy and sister, Bernice “Tootie” (Richard) Myren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Central Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mara Ahles-Iverson officiating. Burial and committal services will be held at Eleva Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 13 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel and again on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
