Robert Lee McKissick Jr, age 68, of Mondovi died Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the VA Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Bob was born December 4, 1954 in Los Angeles, CA. He was son of Robert SR and Yevonne McKissick. He grew up in California and Oregon and graduated from Apple Valley Senior High School in 1973. He then joined the Marine Corp and served mostly in Vietnam until he was honorably discharged in 1977.
Bob married Lynn Hoffman in 1976 and to this marriage was born a daughter Leanna, a daughter Donna and twin boys one of whom was still born and one who died in infancy of SIDS. Bob and Lynn later divorced. Bob spent years working in the lumber industry and attended Truck Drivers School after which he drove professionally both regionally and over-the-road throughout the 48 states which brought him to Marten Transport. In 1992, Bob married Brenda Warner nee Steinke, who also worked for Marten Transport. Together they raised Leanna and Donna and Brenda’s children Luke and Lana from her previous marriage. Later, Brenda’s parents moved with them and enjoyed many happy times together. Bob owned and operated a custom woodworking business for several years. Bob loved his family, children and grandchildren very much and was a great father and grandfather. He loved the LORD and was an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping and travel. He also was very active for the Mondovi Food Pantry and Feed My People food distributions and Ruby’s Pantry…..always ready to help others.
Bob is survived by wife Brenda, children Luke Warner of New Berlin; Leanna (John) Larson of Spring Valley; Donna (Jerry) Gifford of Upper MI, Lana (Matt) Fanberg of Superior, step-daughter Hope Bagley of Virgin Islands, Cody Guinn of OR and other extended family. AND grandchildren Dakota and Autumn Washok, Devin, Zaccary and Gaige Larson, Randi Lynn, Ricardo, and Cruz Aguilar, Connor Fanberg, Scarlet and Phoenix Guinn. Bob also has a sister Terri in OR, 2 half-sisters in ME and step-mother and 6 step-sisters and brothers in UT. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Barri and one half-brother and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, Mondovi with Pastor Scott Johnson officiating. Inurnment, with full military honors, will follow. A visitation will be held in the lobby of Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 15 from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
