Robert John “Bob” Putz, age 72, of Fountain City, passed away peacefully on the day of their 47th anniversary of marriage, Monday, July 22, 2019, at home with his loving wife at his side.
He was born on November 30, 1946 in La Crosse, the son of the late Leonard and Iva (Doebbert) Putz.
Bob attended grade school at the Eagle Valley School and Cochrane-Fountain City High School, graduating with the class of 1964.
On July 22, 1972 Bob was united in marriage to Wanda Litscher at St. Michael’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Fountain City. To this beloved union, two children were born.
Bob and Wanda owned and operated Putz Trucking, hauling milk from farm to creamery. He was proud to own this business from the early 1980’s until 1993. Before the start of Putz Trucking, Bob worked side by side with both his father and brother on the home farm.
He was also employed for some time at Dairyland Labs, UBC and ending with a job he was quite proud of, driving bus for the City of Winona.
Bob was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Michael’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Fountain City, where he devoted himself as Church Council President and served on other committees as well. Bob’s faithfulness was also evident as the secretary of the Buffalo Lutheran School in Cochrane.
Bob will be remembered for his love of deer hunting, starting at the age of 12 and never missing a season thereafter. He enjoyed dancing and listening to old time and classic country music, camping and traveling, especially out west.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife of 47 years, Wanda of Fountain City; son, John (Lyn) Putz of Fountain City; daughter, Janet (Rich) Boyle of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Blake and Briana Roberts and Hailey Boyle; twin brother, Richard (Debbie) Putz of Fountain City; also by an aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, brothers in law, sisters in law and many dear friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fountain City with Pastor Paul Jansen officiating. Burial will follow at Bohri's Valley Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service all at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name to either St. Michael’s Ev. Lutheran Church or Bohri’s Valley Cemetery Association would be greatly appreciated.
