Robert “Bob” W. Brenner, age 68 of Mondovi, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born on November 19, 1949, in Durand to Charles and Belva (Kaufman) Brenner. Bob was one of ten siblings that grew up in Mondovi. He had six brothers and three sisters. His hard work ethic was formed at an early age by helping out on the Kaufman farm in Eau Galle. He graduated from Mondovi High School in 1968 and attended UW-Eau Claire.
He married Jackie Skogstad in 1972, they had three children and then later divorced. Bob owned and operated the Northside Bar for 12 years. Bob also worked for the United States Postal Office as a rural mail carrier in Eau Claire until his retirement in September 2017. While working at the post office, Bob created many friendships with those along his route. He always took the time to strike up a conversation with those who he came in contact with.
Bob had a great passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hiking with his friends and family. He would always look forward to spending time at the lodge with his family where they socialized and exchanged deer stories. Everyone wanted a chance to hunt in Bob’s favorite spot in the hallow during hunting season. In recent years it brought him great joy to pass on the hunting tradition to his grandchildren.
Bob also enjoyed canoeing, snowmobiling, and gardening. In the summertime, you could always go to Bob’s house or the “Beehive” and get fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, or green beans. Bob was also quite that handyman and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was able to fix anything on your car or around the house. Bob was known around town for his famous, “Bob’s Charcoal Chicken”. Everyone wanted his chicken for parties or events around the area.
Bob was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. He loved to tailgate and attend Brewers games with is family. Bob loved his grandchildren. He was very dedicated with going to their dance competitions/recitals, football, baseball, & basketball games. He also was not afraid to jump on roller coaster or go down a water slide with them.
Bob was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. It didn’t matter if you were laughing at him or laughing with him he loved to make people smile. He kept his sense of humor right to the end. He touched many people’s lives with his politeness and sense of caring. Bob will be greatly missed but not forgotten by all those who knew him.
