Robert J. “Bob” Averbeck, age 84 of Alma passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Wabasha. He was born on December 13, 1932 in Alma, the son of Arthur and Marcella (Schweitzer) Averbeck. Bob was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He was a Golden Eagle status in the NRA.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Joan of Alma, WI; children, John (Lisa) of Bloomington, MN, Nora (Bruce) Anderson of Buffalo City, WI, Thomas (Alice) of Prescott, WI; grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Deneff, Joseph, Robert (Kasey), Ryan, Reese, Alexia and Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Seth Niemi, Christian Martin, Jasper Deneff and one on the way, Oliver; step-grandchildren, Nick (Stephanie) Anderson and Amanda (Neil) Walters; sisters, Marie (LeRoy) Speltz and Grace (Glenn) Foegen; brother, Julius (Verlaine); sisters-in-law, Erna and Marion; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald, Jim (Ruth) and Glenn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church at 10:30 am with Father Brian Jazdzewski presiding. Burial to immediately follow at Alma Public Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until the time of Mass.
