Richard Loewenhagen

Richard Loewenhagen passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Dove Heathcare, West. He was born on March 13, 1946 one of seven children born to Alvin and Mabel (Wenger) Loewenhagen. Richard attended and graduated from Gilmanton High School. He then honorably served our country as a soldier in the United States Army. On October 18, 1986 Richard was united in marriage to Kimberly Buchholz at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi. Richard was a longtime employee of LPI, Inc. in Eau Claire, a career that spanned from January of 1988 until his retirement in July of 2010. While working at LPI and after his retirement, he invested in several different rental properties. Richard loved to fix things and thrived on the challenges of making what was broken, work once again. He always found enjoyment in the hunting and fishing seasons. Although he would partake in the hunt, it was much more about his family coming together. One of Richard’s favorite times was time spent with his friends at the Mondovi Family Restaurant. Richard is survived by his wife Kim Loewenhagen, their children Tyler Loewenhagen and Brianna Loewenhagen (Derek Marten, Fiance). Children from a previous marriage (Joan Weiss), Chad Loewenhagen (Jennifer Baxter) and Jess (Kayla) Loewenhagen. Grandchildren Taylor Watton, Morgan Loewenhagen, Madison Loewenhagen, Samuel Loewenhagen, Carter Loewenhagen, Avery Marten, and Harper Marten. his siblings, Dorothy Orlikowski, Pat Meyer, Mary Frye, Ed (Deb) Loewenhagen and Kay (Randy) Rustad; mother-in-law, Bonnie (Vern) Williams; father-in-law, Cliff Buchholz; brother-in-law, Rory Buchholz; special friend, Jim and Sonja Kamla; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bob Loewenhagen. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi with Pastor Rolf Morck officiating. Enurnment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Modena. A memorial gathering will be held at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. Richard was in the War back when he was young and vulnerable. He suffered a lifetime of PTSD and then succumbed to a lingering battle wound of Agent Orange, which took its toll years later. An old military saying comes to mind when I think of Richard, "All gave some, some give all."
