Richard Frederick Dierauer, age 87, of Alma, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Wabasha.
He was born on May 8, 1927 on the family homestead farm in Mill Creek Valley, rural Alma, a son of Walter and Leona (Jost) Dierauer. He was united in marriage to Geneva, to which they have shared nearly 61 years of marriage together.
Richard attended and graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1944. He then went on to Farm Short Course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Richard was a farmer for his entire life. He was a member of several different farming organizations, many of which he served on the board of directors, most notably as the secretary and President of the Wisconsin Farmers Union.
He was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul & St. Luke United Church of Christ where he served for 20 years as the church treasurer.
Richard was a 65 year member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Buffalo River Lodge #252 in Mondovi Wisconsin and served as lodge master for three terms.
Richard will be remembered for his love of farming, family, his church family and his fellow brothers of the Masonic Lodge.
Richard is survived by his wife Geneva; daughters Joyce (husband, Bruce Thomas) Dierauer of Colorado and Sandra Dierauer of Eden Prairie, MN; two sons, Gene (Stacy) of Rochester and Dale (Significant other, Emily Johnson) of Alma; grandchildren, James (Kaitlin), Jen (Tom) Brand, Kathryn Dierauer, Evan (Jamie) Thomas and Kyla (Mark) Wenger; one great granddaughter, Laurel; sister, Dorothy Thompson and Brother David Dierauer; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Robert; brother in law, Arvin Thompson; nieces, Ellen Dierauer, Debra Dierauer and Marilyn Hoyt; two sisters in law, Marilyn Dierauer and Thelma Dierauer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel.
A Masonic Service will be held on Monday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home by the Free and Accepted Masons Buffalo River Lodge #252 of Mondovi. Cremation will follow the visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 24 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul & St. Luke United Church of Christ, Alma.
Inurnment will be at the Tell Cemetery, Town of Alma, at 1:00 PM.
