Alma – Richard D. “Dick” Dienger, age 79 passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Gundersen Lutheran Memorial Hospital in LaCrosse surrounded by his family. He was born on May 2, 1932 in Alma, the son of William and Irma (Gross) Dienger. Dick played the tuba in the concert band at Alma High School; graduating in 1950. He joined the Army and was a radio repair specialist in Korea. Dick married Elizabeth Hilgert on June 10, 1967 and enjoyed 44 special years together. Dick and Elizabeth worked on their dairy farm while raising 3 loving children. Dick was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion. Dick loved music, especially Lawrence Welk. He played his keyboard at the legion, Mondovi Senior Center and various nursing homes. He loved gardening his vegetables and flowers. His happiest memories were on the “Bluff”.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Bruce (Betty) of St. Charles, MN; daughters, Sandra (Alan) Lund of Stanchfield, MN and Maxine (John) Luchsinger of Ellsworth, WI; grandchildren, Christopher, Shane, Kyle, Brett and Brandon; brother, Roger; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert “Bobby” and David and nephews, Dale and Loren.
A funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 709 S. 2ND Street, Alma on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 11:30 am with visitation from 10 am until the time of service. Pastor Joel Bacon will be officiating. Burial will be held at Alma Memorial Cemetery.
