Raymond Wilbur Christopherson

Raymond W. Christopherson, age 87 of Mondovi, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Mayo Health System, Luther Hospital in Eau Claire,WI. He was born on June 24, 1926 on the homestead farm of Edward and Agnes (Mahlum) Christopherson located in the Town of Modena, Buffalo County. Raymond with faith and honor served our country during WW II as a member of the United States Navy, Sea-Bees. Raymond and his fellow comrades were stationed on the South Pacific Island of Guam, during which time he was injured by enemy fire. On July 11, 1946, Raymond was united in marriage to Shirley Whitworth. To this loving union, four children were born. At the young age of 14, Ray began working for his dad hauling cattle. Farming was the work that throughout his life meant the most to him. Even after a short stint working construction in Janesville, WI Ray couldn’t wait to move back to Buffalo County in 1961. Ray returned to do what he knew and loved the most, farming. Ray will be remembered as an extremely hard and dedicated worker and he passed that same ethic of hard work to his children. Milk cows…go to school…get home and milk the cows again. Ray never did anything just half way. His motto was “do it right or don’t do it at all”. Ray might have seemed to have a rough and tough exterior, but deep inside he had a soft and loving heart. Those left to cherish Ray’s memory are his wife of the past 67 years, Shirley of Mondovi; his four children, Kathlene Rae (Steven) Aldridge of Marlin, TX, Sandra Sue (Grant) Parker of Eau Claire, John Charles Christoperson and Randall James (Carol)Christopherson, both of Mondovi; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Beverly (Henry) Odegaard and brother, Allen (Doris) Christopherson, both of Eau Claire; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lyle and Dale and son in law, Daniel A. Larson. A Memorial gathering and service will be at Talbot Family Funeral Home in Mondovi on Saturday December 14 beginning at 9:00AM until the time of service at 11:00AM with Pastor Dale Engen. Inurnment will be at a later date at Oak Park Cemetery in Mondovi. Talbot Family Funeral Homes-Scenic Rivers Cremation Center assisted the family with arrangements.
