Phyllis A. Wolfrum, age 101 of Mondovi, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the American Lutheran Home. She was born on September 21, 1916 in Mondovi, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Steinke) Putzier. Phyllis graduated from Mondovi High School, class of 1934, with the honor of giving the salutatorian address. She also took pride in having perfect attendance throughout her entire school career. After graduation she was asked by Stanley Lockwood to come to work for the Telephone Company as an operator. During the depression this was a dream come true! Phyllis's relationship with the Telephone Company lasted until her retirement in 1981 at age 65. She took a leave when her daughter, Susan was born and to be the bookkeeper for her husband, Jay Anderson's, Standard Oil Business. After his death, she returned to the Telephone Company. Phyllis was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and its ladies organization.
Phyllis was an extremely talented musician, being able to play both the violin and piano. She loved dancing and gardening in her younger days. Phyllis was an avid reader, especially medical journals. She was a sophisticated and passionate lady who would always try to better herself. Phyllis will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Susan (David) Ronholm of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughter, Sara (Josh) Gullicksrud of Eau Claire; grandson, Jay (Traci) Ronholm of Brainerd, MN; three great-grandsons, Brice and Alexander Ronholm and Brek Gullicksrud; step-son, Gary (Debbie) Wolfrum of Ann Arbor, MI; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jay Anderson in 1962; second husband, Erwin Wolfrum in 1998 and sister, Mildred Anderson in 2010.
A funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Timothy Moe officiating. Burial to immediately follow at Oak Park Cemetery.
A visitation will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes, Mondovi Chapel on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
