Phyllis M. Schneider, age 88 of Alma, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. She was born on August 8, 1931 in Alma, the daughter of Edward and Selma (Giese) Schneider. Phyllis graduated from Alma High School in 1949. She earned her Bachelors Degree in education from UW LaCrosse. Later she earned her Masters Degree in education from Winona State University. Phyllis taught school for 37 years at Beloit area schools, retiring in 1990 at which time she moved back to Alma. She served as secretary and was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #224 in Alma. She was a member of St. Paul & St. Luke United Church of Christ and regularly attended services at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Phyllis was an active member of the Alma Historical Society, Retired Teachers and Buffalo County Democratic Party. She was an avid Packers fan and a proud owner of Packers stock. Phyllis was on the board of the Alma High School Scholarship Association and was a supporter of Wings Over Alma and the National Eagle Center. Phyllis had a bubbly personality and a zest for life. She had a very active social life and her presence will be greatly missed.
Phyllis will be sadly missed by brother, Samuel (LaVonne) Schneider of Winona; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; the family of Mrs. Madeline Berner in Beloit, WI and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruth Byington, Blanche Schneider and Mildred (Hilmer) Huebner and brothers, Oakley (Mildred) Schneider, Benjamin (Toni) Schneider and Frederick (Delores) Schneider.
A funeral service will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes, Alma Chapel on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 11:00 am with a visitation beginning at 9:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Alma Public Cemetery. Please share your memories and condolences online at www.talbotfuneralhomes.com.
