Peter Loyd Lybert

Peter Loyd Lybert, Sr. formerly of Alma, WI passed away October 29, 2014 at the Onalaska Care Center, Onalaska, WI. Pete was born on October 17, 1934 in San Antonio, TX to Alf and Maude (Winterwood) Lybert. Pete honorably served his country from 1954 to 1958 in the U.S. Navy. After returning home, he began his career as a heavy machine operator, until he became disabled and retired in 1984. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139 for 37 years. Pete’s soul mate and true love of his life was Karen Goeztman, whom he spent 21 years with until her passing in 2011. Pete had a big heart, caring and giving to all who were close to him. He will be dearly missed by his close friends Eldora and Merlin Bauer, their children, and their grandchildren, who fondly drew pictures, and made birthday cards for “Grandpa Pete”. Pete is also survived by his sister Phyllis (Wesley) Eldredge, and sister in law Marydel Lybert and other relatives. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, his dear companion Karen Goeztman, and recently, his twin brother Paul. A private committal service with full military honors will be at Waumandee Public Cemetery with Deacon Ed Wendt officiating.
