Paul J. Pearson, age74, of Galesville, WI passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving and devoted family and friends. His “bucket list” noted the ability to be with family and friends, spending time participating in re-enactments, fishing and playing billiards .…he proudly accomplished these things. Paul was born November 19, 1938 in Winona, MN a son of the late Paul C. and Fern F. (Giese) Pearson. He attended and graduated from Alma Area Schools, graduating with the class of 1956. In May of 1956, Paul honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Paul was honorably discharged in 1960. Following Paul’s service to his country, he attended the Buffalo County Teachers College. On June 19, 1965 Paul was united in marriage to Diane Plank at Zion Lutheran Church in Cream. To this union, two sons were born. Paul attended North Central Technical Institute from 1966 until graduating in 1968. In that same year, Paul began his career as a draftsman and later the lumberyard manager at Beaver Builders Supply in Galesville, retiring in 1991. Paul was united in marriage to Jean Hudzinski on June 14, 1991 at First Presbyterian Church in Galesville, WI. Together, Paul and Jean started Complete Design Service, a successful business that through over 15 years of ownership helped to design many light commercial buildings and hundreds of homes. Paul retired in 2006. Paul was a longtime member of St. Paul & St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Alma, WI. He was an avid and accomplished billiards player, earning several league championships and numerous most valuable player awards. Other interests in Paul’s life were walleye fishing on the Mississippi River, woodworking and participating in war re-enactment groups, including the French and Indian war, Fort La Jonquiere and the war of 1812, Prairie Du Chein Militia. Survivors include his wife Jean of Galesville; children, Eric (Krista) Onalaska, Ryan (Kimberly) Reedsburg, Kitty (Gary Thompson) Hudzinski of Seattle, WA, Karen (David) Murphy of Alamogordo, NM, Andy (Connie) Hudzinski of West Salem, Dan (Marcy) Hudzinski of West Salem; 12 grandchildren; Megan and Ramon Betancourt, Shawna Murphy, Connor Thompson, Tyler , Zachary and Katie Pearson, Chris, Hailey, and Danica Hudzinski, Dylan and Madison Pearson; brother, Jan (Barbara) Pearson of Palm Harbor, FL; and many close family members. Preceding Paul in death were his parents and first wife, Diane. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul & St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Alma, WI. with Pastor Marcy Heil officiating. Inurnment, with full military honors will follow at Tell Cemetery, Town of Alma. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, January 25 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel and again on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Gundersen Lutheran Hospice program, in care of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation, 1836 South Ave. La Crosse, WI 54601 and Northcentral Technical College Foundation in care of The Paul & Jean Pearson Family Scholarship.
