P. Colleen Kaste

P. Colleen Kaste, age 85 of Cochrane, WI went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Tuesday June 18, 2024. She had been residing at Gundersen St. Elizabeth’s Care Center in Wabasha, MN for the past year. Colleen was born in Berlin, WI on November 3, 1938 to Rev. Erwin and Phoebe (Williams) Draeger. Colleen attended and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1956. She met the love of her life, Hilbert Kaste, at an activity through area church youth groups. They were married on October 16, 1959 in Cochrane, WI. To this union, two daughters were born. Colleen enjoyed being a homemaker, mother and loving wife. She later was employed at the Cochrane-Fountain City Recorder in 1974 and worked there until 2003. Colleen was for many years a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Alma. Some of her favorite pastimes were working crossword puzzles and reading. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and visiting with many relatives and friends. Colleen’s most fulfilling activity though, was to spend time being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her smile was one that would light up the room. Colleen will be forever in the hearts of her daughters: Cheryl (Dennis) Sherman and Lori Kaste (Van Dierauer); granddaughter Lindsay A. (Jon) Birkey, and great grandchildren: Hannah and Lily Birkey; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hilbert, and her siblings and their spouses: Esther (James) DeMott, Dale (Carol) Draeger, David (Betty) Draeger, and Ermina (Joe) Olachea. A visitation will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Home in Alma, WI on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Buffalo City Cemetery.
