Orville M. Larson

Orville M. Larson, age 78, of Holmen, Wisconsin, originating in Nelson, WI passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, July 29. He was born on March 1, 1934 in the Town of Modena, Buffalo County a son of the late Ole and Minnie (Quarberg) Larson. Orville attended Church Valley grade School and graduated Valedictorian of the Nelson High School class of 1952. Following high school, Orville began his employment with Gillette-Eaton Company (now Federal Mogel) in Lake City until he began his service in the United State Army in 1957. Orville honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army, serving most of his time in Germany. He served from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1959. Orville then began his employment at Trane Company in La Crosse. After leaving the Trane Company he started a career with Veterinary Experimental Farm where he tested different medicines on Cattle and Cows. For several years, Orville transported mail for the United States Postal service from La Crosse to Alma. Orville will be remembered for his passion of reading and studying history. He also enjoy listening to the radio. Orville’s memory will be remembered by his brother and sister in law, Melvin and Gladys Larson of Durand and by many nieces and nephews. Preceding Orville in death are his parents, a brother, Arthur and his wife Dorothy and sister in law Violet Larson. A memorial celebration of Orville’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 7 at 7:00 PM at the Talbot Funeral and Tribute Center, Alma. Inurnment will take place at Lyster Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until the hour of the service, also at the Funeral Home.
