Orlea Grace McFarlin. age 81, of Cochrane, WI passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on April 17, 1930 to Ralph and Pearl (Bennett) Edwards, in Plainview, MN.
She married Lyle E. McFarlin Jr., someone she’s gone to school with from first grade all the way through high school on June 12, 1951. And to this union, nine children were born.
They moved to Massachusetts were Ed was stationed at For Devins, then moved to Wabasha and then in 1960 they moved to Cochrane, WI.
Orlea was an avid bowler in Wabasha and in Cochrane were she has bowled for 50 years, received her Grand Dutches pin at the State bowling tournament. She was a devoted member of Hope United Church where she was an active member of the Ladies Aid. She worked at Cochrane Nursing Home, C-FC School as a breakfast cook, C-FC Recorder for several years. Orlea and her husband enjoyed traveling together. Orlea’s family will remember her wonderful cooking and her deep love she had for them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Orlea will be sadly missed by her children; Debra (Warren) Barth of Buffalo City, Bruce (Jackie) McFarlin of Buffalo City, Doug (Peggy) McFarlin of Fountain City, Diane (Lanny) Krause of Winona, Faith (significant other, Tim) McFarlin of Buffalo City and Chad (Tammy) McFarlin of Eau Claire; Daughter-in-law, Connie McFarlin, Waumandee; Brother-in-law, Larry (Leona) McFarlin of El Paso, TX also by 21 grandchildren and 8 great-children and nieces, nephews, other relatives, countless friends and her special companion, Tinker Bell, her dog.
Orlea was preceded in death by her husband Ed, April 3, 2011, three sons, Thomas on December 17, 1967, Gerald “Jerry” October 22, 1998 and David on February 25, 2011, her parents Ralph and Pearl Edwards, sister Eileen.
Funeral services to celebrate Orlea's life will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Hope United Church of Christ, 210 W Michaels Street, Cochrane, WI with Pastor Marcy Heil officiating. A lunch will be served after Cemetery services at Hope UCC Church. A time of visiting and support for Orlea's family will be held from 11 am until the hour of the services. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope United Church of Christ would be appreciated. Orlea will be laid to rest at the Buffalo City Cemetery.
