Olgar “Ollie” Arvid Thompson passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on October 23, 2016 in Ohio following a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in Modena, Wisconsin on September 10, 1931 to Ole and Anna Thompson. He learned the value of hard work and trust in God as he grew up on the family farm. After serving in the Army, he continued to work at White Sands Missile Range, NM as a civilian electronics technician supporting a wide range of test and evaluation programs in the Department of Defense, until his retirement in 1986. Following retirement, he continued to work and start numerous businesses that allowed him to do what he loved – tinkering with electronics and being around people.
He is survived by his longtime companion and best friend, Lois Rabbass and her daughter Tina Mitchell (Skeet); by his sons Michael (Lisa) and Patrick (Elaine); his grandchildren Noah (Katie), Kristen (Nate), Ian, Seth, Joel, Annalise and Luke; his sisters Elaine (Lyle), Elizabeth and Kathleen; and numerous relatives. He was preceded in death by his daughter Dana, his parents, his brother Arvin, and his sisters Ruby and Mary Ellen. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at Lyster Lutheran Church, W1771, County Road D, in Nelson, WI with Pastor Michael Vetsch officiating. Burial will follow at the Church cemetery,
