Norma J. Crawford

Norma J. Crawford, age 86, of Mondovi, passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Hillview Assisted Living in Mondovi.

She was born to Walter and Christina (Bauer) Poeschel on June 19, 1937 in Nelson, WI. Norma graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Lima in 1955. In November 1966 she married Neil Crawford, to this union two daughters were born, Jean and Judy.  They were later divorced but always remained close friends.  Throughout the years she worked in retail at Berg’s Drugstore, Herb’s Super Valu, Bob’s IGA and for many years at Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store before retiring.

In her early years she tended a large garden and loved to can vegetables and make jam. Her specialty being dill pickles a recipe her daughter Jean continues to make.  She enjoyed baking, was an avid reader and spent hours doing crossword puzzles.  Norma loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family.

Norma will be sadly missed by her daughters, Jean (Gary) Gibson, Judy (John) Schwartz; grandchildren, Jenna Gibson, Heather (Joe) Werner, Brad Gibson, Tracey (Brian) Crandall, Morgan (Bryce) Hladovcak, Ryan Schwartz; great-grandchildren, Kasey, Korey, Konway Crandall, Kade and Mallory Hladovcak, and baby Werner on the way; sister-in-law’s, Linda (Don) Rudy, Barb Crawford; brother-in-law, Russ Crawford; also, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her siblings, Arnie (Iona) Poeschel, Darrell (Myrna) Poeschel and Glen Poeschel; former brother-in-law’s, Larry Crawford, James (Sandy) Crawford and sister-in-law Tess Crawford; great-granddaughter Kassidy Crandall; former husband Neil Crawford and former mother and father-in-law Dorothy and Mel Crawford.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi with Father John Zweber as Celebrant.  Inurnment will follow at Riverside Public Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hill View Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for taking such good care of our mother over the past year.
