Noreen "Mac" Berger

Noreen E. “Mac” Berger, age 84, of Mondovi, passed away on Thursday, October 25 at Mayo Health Systems, Luther Campus with her family at her side. She was born on October 13, 1928 in Eau Claire, a daughter of the late Leslie and Anna (Baader) McKay. “Mac” as she liked to be called, grew up in the house on Dewey St. in Eau Claire which was the very first Sacred Heart Hospital, a fact she was very proud of. After graduating from St. Patrick High School, Mac worked at Presto until the she took the hand of Vincent P. Berger and became his wife on October 16, 1948. Together, Mac and Vincent raised 11 children. Vincent preceded Noreen in death on March 12, 1977. Mac was kept very busy as a mom, homemaker and housewife. Eventually, Mac and her husband settled in Mondovi where Vince owned an auto body shop. She was a past member of the American Legion-VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Mondovi and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society along with being a mentor to the children at Mondovi schools. Mac was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi and was an avid bowler and golfer. In her later years, Mac became quite the card player. Mac’s family will remember her craftiness and her ability to remember to send cards on all their birthdays. Surviving Mac are her children, Linda (Dale) Stetzer of Colfax, Susan (John) Stetzer of Williamsburg VA, Don (Dana) Berger of Las Vegas, Tina Risen of Mondovi, Jan (Doug) Iwerks of Barnesville, CO, Carol Morrison (friend, Jeff Sime) of Menomonie, David (Nancy) Berger of Eleva, Mike (Brenda) Berger of Mifflin, TN, Karen (Gary) Prissel of Rock Falls, Bonnie (Steve) Behrens of Chippewa Falls and Mark (Geri) Berger of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Kim, Joshua, Emily, Ryan, Justine, Erika, Justin, Angie, Kirk, Lisa, Steve, Mike, Crystal, Shonna, Jason, Mindy, Chad and Dan; 21 great grandchildren; 35 great-great grandchildren; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband Vincent Paul, her grandson Dean Vincent Stetzer and son in law, Gary Risen preceded Noreen in death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 30 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mondovi. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 29 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Poeschel-Talbot Funeral Home of Mondovi and will continue at the church on Tuesday one hour before the Mass.
