Myrtle Janet Hinz, nee Seim, age 86, of Buffalo City, passed away on March 6 at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi.
She was born on April 16, 1925 a daughter raised in Superior, WI by her parents John and Mary (Abrahamson) Seim.
In 1948, Myrtle moved to Milwaukee to seek her own fortunes when she met and married Carl A. Hinz. Together they raised four children. After Carl retired from the Milwaukee police department, Myrtle and he moved to Buffalo City. This is where they spent their time enjoying the beauty that Buffalo County had to offer, especially the waters of the Mississippi River. Myrtle and Carl provided years of happy memories for all. From chugging along in their houseboat and stopping at beaches for afternoons of swimming, to hikes up Brady’s bluff and the Buena Vista overlook, the beloved grandparents made sure their grandchildren enjoyed the best the region had to offer. After Carl’s passing in September of 2004, Myrtle turned to the community for companionship, finding it at the senior lunches at C-FC high school, Christ Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post 10406. These companions provided years of happiness for her.
Myrtle will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her sweet nature, her selflessness that thought of others needs far before her own and of course, her excellent apple pie.
Myrtle leaves behind her children, Robert Hinz of Buffalo City, Janet Carlson of Winona and Marybeth (David) Horne of Sussex, WI; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews and special friends.
Besides her parents and husband Carl, Myrtle was preceded in death by her son Michael on December 8, 2011, brother Robert Seim and sister Florence Champlain.
