Mildred "Milly" Rohrer

Mildred R. “Milly” (Schams) Rohrer, age 95 of Alma passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Lake Winona Manor. She was born on August 15, 1923 in Dakota, MN, the daughter of William August Franz and Marie Caroline (Drexel) Diekrager. Milly married Walter Albion Schams on July 18, 1945 and to this union three children were born. After Walter’s death, she later married Wilbert Louis Frank Rohrer on August 11, 1973. Milly was proud to have been baptized, confirmed and married to her first and second husbands all at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nodine, MN. She joined Christ Lutheran Church, Cochrane in 1973 where Milly was an active member and served as a Sunday School Teacher and was involved with the Ladies Aid. Milly was also a member of the Dairy Promotional Board and the Buffalo County Homemakers. Milly was faith-filled, loving, and fun. She adored her family and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was so proud of them. Milly was a farm girl all of her life. She was never afraid of hard work and loved her time on the farm as a young girl and as an adult. Milly's favorite thing to do on the farm was milking the cows. She especially liked the Holstein cows best. Milly will be sadly missed by her children, Kenneth (Ruth) Schams, David (Sandy) Schams and Jeanne (Terry) Stremcha; eight grandchildren, Debbra (Matt) Pretzer, Steven (Sarah) Schams, Diane Schams, Christopher (Tina) Schams, Ben (Holly) Schams, Stephanie (Joshua) Cherry, Matthew (Abby) Stemcha and Jennifer (Mike) Dickinson; 14 great-grandchildren, Courtney, Correy, Megan, Cody, Callie, Averie, Bo, Brody, Brynn, Adelaide, Asher, Charlie, Max and Jack and other dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Walter Schams; second husband, Wilbert Rohrer; brothers and sisters, Nellie Marquardt, Roland Diekrager, Enid Diekrager and Earl Diekrager and other extended family. A funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Cochrane on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Mark Wilde officiating. Visitation will be held at church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Milly will be laid to rest at a later date beside her husband's, Wilbert and Wally at Bush Cemetery, Ridgeway, MN.
