Michael Jay Poeschel, affectionately known as Micky to his family, passed away at the age of 44 at his home in Madison, WI on June 25, 2013.
He was born on November 26, 1968 in Helena, MT to Dennis and Elizabeth (Dregney) Poeschel.
He attended schools in Bismarck, SD. Graduating from Bismarck Century High School with the class of 1987.
Following high school he attended the University of North Dakota. Mike then moved to the Milwaukee area where he worked for the Best Block Company. He later moved to Madison and began a career with the Brick and Block Company.
Mike enjoyed being in the outdoors either hunting or fishing. Hockey was a passion that Mike held onto for his entire life, from his young days playing youth hockey all the way until his mid 30’s. He would always follow the NHL and especially the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux. Mike’s family will not only remember his soft spoken personality but will forever remember his quick witted sense of humor and his loving heart and devotion he had for them, especially his pride and joy, his daughter Katie whom he loved dearly and lovingly referred to as his “Pop Tart”.
Mike will be sadly missed by his daughter, Katie and her special friend, Alex both of Oconomowoc, WI; his mom, Elizabeth Poeschel of Mondovi; sister, Ann (Chris) West of Grafton, ND; two nieces, Elizabeth and Molly Anne West; also by aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his dad, Dennis on May 10, 2005. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 10:30 AM at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi with Pastor Rolf Morck officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, one hour prior to the memorial service.
