Maurice Stanley Fredrickson age 90 of Mondovi, WI passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire in the presence of his loving family.
He was born in the Town of Dover, Buffalo County on November 4, 1923 to Fred and Clara (Peterson) Fredrickson.
After graduating from Gilmanton High School in 1942, he farmed in Lookout, WI with his parents. In 1947, Maurice was united in marriage to Donna Lehman. Five children were born to them.
Maurice served on the Dover Town Board, was the past president and life time member of the Gilmanton Community Club and belonged to the Gilmanton Sportsman Club. He was an active member of the Lookout Lutheran Church, holding various offices before joining Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi.
In 1981, they retired from farming. They then moved to Mondovi where Maurice began working at the Mondovi Equity. This new venture was short lived and in 1982 Maurice went back in to farming. Maurice was very attentive and gave special attention to the cattle and livestock. He had many joys in life, including hunting and fishing, and some as simple as taking a walk along the creek and admiring the works of mother nature. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and will be remembered for his witty sense of humor. Sadly, in the last two years Maurice lost the ability to enjoy the life he knew due to his illness.
Maurice will be missed by his wife Donna of 66 years, his daughter Joy (Mike) DeWyre of Glenwood City, WI; daughter Holly (Jim) Hesselman of Mondovi, WI; son David (Teresa) Fredrickson of Lookout, WI; and daughter in law Darcy Fredrickson of Mondovi, WI. Preceding Maurice in death were two of his sons, Jerry and Jon, his parents, and sisters Florence Olson and Inez Hovey.
A Memorial gathering and service will be at Zion Lutheran Church on Tuesday, December 3 at 1:00 PM until the hour of the service at 3:00 PM with Pastor Paul Woebbeking officiating.
