Matthew James “Matty” Triggs, age 24, of Cochrane, formerly of Modena died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 24 in the Town of Milton, Buffalo County, following injuries sustained due to a motorcycle accident.
He was born on May 18, 1987 in Prairie Du Sac a son of Carl James Triggs and Lynnie Marie Quarberg.
Matty attended Gilmanton Schools, graduating with the Gilmanton High School class of 2005.
As a high school student, Matty worked at London Aire Estates and both Wendy’s and McDonalds in Eau Claire. After graduation, Matty began working at Ashley Furniture in Arcadia. He took a little time off from Ashley to travel south to the area devastated by hurricane Katrina. Upon returning to Gilmanton, he resumed his employment with Ashley.
Matty was very mechanically inclined and was able to apply his talents in fixing cars. Many say he inherited this trait from his father, Carl.
Matty was a very family orientated young man and loved to spend his time with them all and . He will be remembered for his need to always be “on the go”, his ability to negotiate a good deal and a sense of humor and a knack to be a practical joker that would make all those around him smile and laugh.
Matty’s memory will be forever remembered and sadly missed by his parents, Lynnie Marie Quarberg of Gilmanton; His father Carl James (Kaye) Triggs of Gilmanton; his fiancée, Lisa Behl and her child Marissa that Matty thought of as his own; his brothers and his one sister, Patricia Lucinda Triggs of Gilmanton, Christopher Quarberg of Gilmanton, Jimmy (significant other, Mindy Schultz and their child, Riley) Koch of Eleva, Mike Koch of Mondovi; maternal grandma, Patricia Quarberg of Sauk City, WI; also by several aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, other relatives and dear and close friends.
Matty was preceded in death by his maternal papa, Alvern Quarberg, paternal grandparents, Jerry and Themla Triggs.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Matthew will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi. Burial will be held at Gilmanton Cemetery at a later date. A memorial gathering to comfort Matthew’s family will be held on Friday, May 4 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Saturday, one hour prior to the service all at Zion Lutheran Church.
