Marlene F. Averbeck, of Cochrane, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Lake Winona Manor, MN. She was born on November 8, 1938, in MN, the daughter of Lloyd and Delores (Ristow) Rothering. Marlene attended Cochrane High School, graduating in 1956. She married Shirl Averbeck on November 19, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fountain City. They were able to share 52 years together before his death on June 30, 2013. Marlene was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She enjoyed embroidering and quilting. Marlene was an avid Packers and Badgers fan. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds outside her window. Marlene truly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Marlene will be sadly missed by her children, Greg (Tammy) of Fountain City, Lonnie (Karen) of Goodview, MN, Rob (Gail) of Lewiston and Susan Cyert of Cochrane; six grandchildren, Joshua (Jamie), Katelyn (Corey) Kubis, Colton, Jessica, Maria and Allison; great-grandchild, Gracelyn Kubis; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, James Cyert, fiancé, Charles Ewing.
A Mass of Christian of Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Alma on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:30 am with Father Brian Jazdzewski presiding. Burial to immediately follow at Buffalo City Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes – Alma Chapel on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and then again at church from 9:30 am until the time of Mass.
