Margaret Sigrid Anderson Segerstrom, age 90, of Mondovi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Valentine's Day, 2016 at the American Lutheran Home, Mondovi. She was born on April 4, 1925 on the family farm, in the Town of Drammen, Eau Claire County, a daughter of the late Otto and Annie (Endreson) Huskelhus Anderson. Margaret was baptized into the Christian faith at Drammen Lutheran Church on May 17th, 1925, a date which held great significance to her as it also marked the day of Syttende Mai, the day of Norway's gained its independence and celebrated by Norwegians everywhere.
Margaret attended Sheldon Valley State graded school and received her 8th grade certificate in commencement at Eau Claire State theater at Eau Claire. She graduated from Mondovi High School with the class of 1943. While in high school, she participated in chorus, girls glee club and the future homemakers of America. On June 2, 1947 Margaret was united in marriage to Ralph Segerstrom at Drammen Lutheran Church. To this blessed union, four children were born. Ralph preceded Margaret in death on May 25, 2010. Margaret was a lady with a deep faith and love for her Lord and Savior, evident in her devotion to her church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Norden where she served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent, was a member of their choir and the ladies aid. Margaret also gave to the communities through volunteering her time with the Sons of Norway, Viking Lodge 5-625, which she was a charter member of. She was also a member of the Farmers Union and served as a delegate at both the State and National levels.
Margaret will long be remembered for her love of quilting, her beautiful and abundant floral
gardens and mostly as a wonderful and caring mother, grandmother and great grandma.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her four loving children, Marjorie (John) Pratt of St. Paul, Sharon McClary of Durand, Neil (Mary) Segerstrom of Mondovi and Diane (Mark) Lund of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Chris (Jenny) Pratt, Margo Pratt, Peter (Terra) Crawford, Paul (Lee Ann) Crawford, Jonathan (Kelly) Crawford, Joshua (Tiffani) Crawford; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Mavis Cook; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Ralph, Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Amy; brother, Harold; brother in law Tom Cook; granddaughter Janna Pratt and son in law, Clayton McClary
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Trinity of Norden Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Solem officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
A time of gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, February 19, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel and again from 12 noon until the hour of the services at the church.
