Margaret Minnie Jonas

Margaret M. Jonas, age 83, of Strum, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Crystal Lake Manor, Strum. She was born on January 18, 1929 in the Town of Lincoln, Buffalo County a daughter of Joseph and Esther (Veraguth) Heller. On May 20, 1949 Margaret was united in marriage to Gene G. Jonas in Cochrane at the church parsonage. To this union, three loving children were born. Margaret and her husband farmed together in the Town of Lincoln where Margaret was quite handy with vegetable gardening. In 1972, they relocated to Augusta after purchasing a farm. About six months after retiring from farming, Margaret began working at the Norske Nook where she specialized in baking pies. Margaret enjoyed both flower gardening and making floral arrangements from those flowers. She loved baking and cake decorating. She took great pride for making all three of her children’s wedding cakes. Margaret was a through and through true and dignified lady who found the joy of family with the biggest joy of all, the grandchildren she would have done anything for. Margaret will be sadly missed by her husband of the past 63 years, Gene of Strum; two daughters, Geraldine (Steve) Michels of Green Bay and Faye Hinkley of Orlando, FL; one son, Keith (Cindy) Jonas of NY; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Marvin (Rose) Heller of Alma; two nephews, one niece other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, her son in law, John Hinkley preceded Margaret in death. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 28 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Elroy V. Conradt officiating. Burial will be at Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Cream. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 27 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel.
