Lucille (Sather) Pospishil

Lucille Elizabeth Gruntzel - Sather – Pospishil, age 91 of Mondovi, passed away December 31, 2018. She was born on October 19, 1927 to Emil and Agnes (Zilla) Gruntzel. She graduated from Independence High School. She attended The Normal School in Alma, WI where she received her teaching degree. She married Galen Sather in 1952. Galen passed away in 1973. In 1988, she married Louis Pospishil. Louis passed away in 2016. Lucille taught for many years at the Sacred Heart Catholic School in Mondovi. She was very devoted to helping children grow and learn. She received the Teacher of the Year Award. She was also very involved with the Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW. She loved bowling and won numerous trophies. She was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Parish and the community. She is survived by two daughters, Anita (Ron) Abts of Independence, WI and Heidi (Roland) Faulkner of Mondovi, WI. Two Grandchildren, Dr. Luke (Kelly) Corwin of Rapid City, SD and Crystal Abts (Finance Joe Dobbs) of Viroque, WI. A sister, Doris Kulig of Whitehall, WI. In-laws, Myron and Orla Sather of Gilmanton, WI and Lois and Larry Balk of Alma, WI. Three Step-daughters, Katheryn Pospishil of Mondovi, WI, Robin (Randy) Taylor of Mondovi, WI and Beth (Raymond) Irizarry of New Mexico. Step-grandchildren, Ryan (Kami) Taylor, Rina (Nathan) Ashwell of Mondovi, WI and Ryan (Shelli) Irizarry, Jayme (Khristian) Irizarry of New Mexico and Donny Irizarry of Alaska. Great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husbands Galen Sather and Louis Pospishil, Brothers Raymond and Emil and Sisters Bertha, Florence and Marie, In-laws and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mondovi on Thursday, January 3, 2018 at 11:00 am with Father Paul Bosco presiding. Burial to immediately follow at the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes, Mondovi Chapel on Wednesday, January 2, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 pm and then again at church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Mondovi, American Legion Auxiliary or a charity of your choice in Lucille’s name. The Family would also like to thank the Staff of the Heritage Senior Living Center of Eau Claire for the care of Lucille.
