Lucille Kathryn Baader (Lucy), age 94, of Urne, WI passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Lucy was born on June 14, 1930, at the home of her parents, Oscar H. and Sarah C. (Torgerson) Brommer in Urne.
Lucy attended and graduated Valedictorian of Nelson High School with the class of 1948. She was voted high school prom queen and enjoyed reminiscing in her yearbooks. She remained active in planning the Nelson class reunions for years to come.
On September 23, 1950, Lucille was united in marriage to the love of her life, Earl "Pete" Baader, at the Nelson United Church of Christ. Pete and Lucy raised their two sons, Danny and Dennis, on their farm in Urne, WI.
She was a longtime, faithful member of Lyster Lutheran Church in Urne; active in many different church functions and groups such as the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs, the Lyster W-ELCA, and volunteering at the annual Lyster Lutheran Church Lutefisk Dinner fundraiser.
Lucy always had a pot of coffee brewing and baked goods ready for family and visitors. She loved cookie jars and everyone who visited was impressed with her large collection, numbering over 100 cookie jars.
Lucy was a proud, devoted grandma and great-grandma. She was so much more than just a "babysitter” to her grandchildren. She was a gentle, loving grandma who made every day a special day. Her three granddaughters spent countless hours riding bikes, baking, swinging, and just spending time at Grandma’s house. She enjoyed taking her granddaughters on special trips to places like Lark Toys in Kellogg, MN to ride the carousel and mini golf or out for ice cream at the Dairy Queen. She never missed special events such as concerts, graduations, and birthday parties. These special times, which Grandma Lucy held so dear, are now precious memories held in the hearts of her grandchildren.
Lucille will be greatly missed by her two sons, Danny (Dorothy) Baader and Dennis (Karen) Baader; granddaughters, Audrey (Sam) Traun, Jennifer (Andy) Hampton and Rebecca (Andy) Pehlke; great grandchildren, Charlie, Lucy & Tyler Traun and Kora & Kolby Pehlke; her brother, Duane Brommer; and countless treasured nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Besides her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Earl "Pete" Baader; sister, Ruth Strand, and many beloved sisters- and brothers-in-law.
A private family graveside service for Lucille will be held at Lyster Lutheran Cemetery.
The family asks if you desire, to please direct memorials to St. Croix Hospice or Lyster Lutheran Church. The staff at St. Croix Hospice are true angels. The entire family is grateful for the care and compassion they provided to Lucy in her final days. Lucy’s faith was very important to her, and the members of Lyster Lutheran Church were like family to Lucy.
