Louis L Pospishil age 90 from Mondovi, WI was born to the parents of Elhardt (Christine) Pospishil on December 16, 1926 at West Point, NE. He passed away on February 22, 2017. Louis was the eldest of five children. He graduated from Wayne, NE. He entered the service in June of 1945 and served his term in the Air Force at Yokota Air Force base in Japan as a military policeman and obtained the rank of Corporal and was discharged in 1947. He went in the business of farming. In 1948 he married Ruth H Prawit. They moved to Mondovi in 1957 and continued farming and later went on to school to get an accounting degree. He worked for Dr. Wright and Alma Farmers Union. Ruth passed away in 1987 leaving three daughters, Katheryn Pospishil, Robin (Randy) Taylor and Beth (Raymond) Irizarry. He later married Lucille Gruntzel Sather in 1988. Louis was a very civic minded person. He was a board member of the 4H County Trust Fund, chairman of Zion Lutheran endowment committee, adjutant of Post 154 American Legion, Secretary/Treasurer of Buffalo County Farmers Union, Chairman of LEPC Buffalo County, President of Naples Mondovi Farmers Union, VFW Post 6711 service officer, Secretary and Treasurer of Vets Club house Committee, 10th District Forty/Eight Cheminot, President of Federated Coop, Buffalo County, Member of State Selective Service Board, Past 10th district commander of American Legion. He spent many hours at the Buffalo Co. fair and the blood mobile. He enjoyed traveling to many States, Canada and Germany along with a few fishing trips thrown in. He was a man of great faith. He is a member of Zion Lutheran Church active as a greeter, usher, elder, serving on different boards and Sunday school superintendant. Louis was honored with many awards over the years but the most important one was when he received the Citizen of the Year for Mondovi. He will be remembered by many as a man who appreciated life and people and gave his time generously with his gentleness and patience and had a drive for always learning. By donating his body to the Mayo Foundation, Rochester, MN, for the study of science, even in his death he provides a learning opportunity for others. Survivors include his wife Lucille, daughters Katheryn Pospishil and Robin (Randy) Taylor of Mondovi and Beth (Raymond) Irizarry of New Mexico. Step daughters Anita (Ron) Abts of Independence and Heidi (Roland) Faulkner of Mondovi. Two Brothers, Marvin (Marilyn) Pospishil of Altoona, Norman (Elaine) Pospishil of Illinois, one sister Norma Young of Wyoming, sisters-in-law Patricia Schmit of Iowa, Doris (Tony) Kulig of Whitehall. Seven grandchildren: Ryan (Kami) Taylor, Rina (Nathan) Ashwell of Mondovi and Ryan (Shelli) Irizarry, Jayme (Khristian) Irizarry from New Mexico and Donny Irizarry from Alaska. Step-grandchildren Luke (Kelly) Corwin of South Dakota and Crystal Abts of La Crosse, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth, one sister Lavern, brothers and sisters in-law, and many friends. A special thanks to all the staff at the American Lutheran Home for the wonderful care and Mondovi Pharmacy for the great service in the ever changing prescription issues. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the Mondovi American Legion, Farmers Union Kamp Kenwood in Chippewa Falls or a charity of your choice given in Louis’ name. A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Mondovi on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 3:00 PM with visitation from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
