Lorn August Gunderson, age 82, of Gilmanton, WI passed away after a brief illness, on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi, WI with his family at his side.
He was born on November 10, 1934 to Orin and Clara Gunderson.
Lorn attended and graduated from Gilmanton High School with the class of 1952.
Lorn was a longtime employee of James Cape and Sons, Co out of Racine, WI a career that spanned 42 years, retiring a superintendent. Upon his retirement, Lorn relocated to Gilmanton, where he has resided ever since.
Lorn’s love for the area he grew up in, Gilmanton, was evident in his devoted support of the Gilmanton Panther boys and girls basketball teams where he rarely missed a game, either home or away. He served many terms as an elected official on the Gilmanton Town Board and was an active member of Gilmanton’s Community Club
Lorn enjoyed golfing with his friends and spending quality time afterwards with them. These friendships were held very dear to Lorn.
He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Lorn was a soft spoken man of few words, yet his family will remember him for his words of wisdom he shared with them to help guide them through life.
Lorn is survived by his children, Kathy (Dan) Squires of Fond du Lac, SuzAnne (Charles) Majors of Deltona, FL, David (Kathy) Gunderson of Racine, Lorna Mack of Racine and Dan (Eileen) Gunderson of Covington, GA; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Beryl) Gunderson of Union Grove; step children, Debbie (Rod) Ellifson of Eau Claire, Darcy Fredrickson of Lookout and Dawn (Bill) Cunningham of Eau Claire along with their family; also by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Lorn was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Kemper, his granddaughter Aubrae Gunderson the daughter of Dan; two brothers, Allen and Eugene along with a sister Betty Casey, and his wife, Joan Carol Gunderson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran church in Gilmanton with a memorial gathering from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. A luncheon will follow the service. Inurnment for the immediate family will be held at the Gilmanton Cemetery.
