Lorene Mae Sande

Lorene M. Sande, age 94 of Alma, WI died January 20, 2019 at Pepin Health and Rehab. She was born April 9, 1924 to Solomon and Bernice (Gibson) Lindstrom. Lorene married Ole Sande on November 18, 1948 at Lyster Lutheran Church. Soon they welcomed into their lives a son James, affectionately called Jimmy. Lorene was first a homemaker and farmed but also enjoyed work outside of the home. She was in the past employed locally at the Anchor Inn in Wabasha, also at the Nelson Cheese Factory, and at one time, Huntsinger Farms. Lorene was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and a faithful member of the WELCA of the Lyster Lutheran Church. Her favorite pastimes included playing cards and Bingo with friends, and making the Swedish Rosette cookies. Lorene loved her kitties, she was fond of flowers of many kinds and Christmas lights! The first thing that comes to mind when you think of Lorene was that she was a caregiver to all… She will be forever in the hearts of the ones she has left behind. Her dear son, Jim and his wife Isabella Sande, Lorene’s grandchildren Chris Sande, Michael (Kaitlyn) Sande, Laura (Mark) Smetak, and Torrey Anderson. Her great grandchildren, Preston and Katie Smetak, and little baby Sande is on the way. Also by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Margaret, Berneda, and Wilbert, and nephew Dr. David Castleberg. A visitation will be held at Talbot Family Funeral Homes in Alma, WI on Wednesday, January 23 at 4:00PM to 7:00PM, and again one hour prior to her funeral service at Lyster Lutheran Church on Thursday January 24 at 11:00AM.
