Lloyd Grotjahn

Lloyd Grotjahn of Alma, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at his home while under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

He was born on November 18, 1932 on the family homestead farm in rural Alma to Alfred and Frances (Gross) Grotjahn.

On Jun 22, 1955, Lloyd was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ruby E. Doebbert in Fountain City. To this union, 5 children were born.  Ruby preceded Lloyd in death on May 7, 2003.

Lloyd was a farmer and farming was in his blood.  He had different opportunities for employment, but on the farm, atop the Alma Ridge is were he knew he belonged, tending to his cows, his land and providing a good life for his family.  Lloyd farmed on his own for nearly 70 years and it was his wish to be at his home on the farm when he passed... and his children can be at peace that they honored his wish.  Mourn his death, but most importantly, celebrate the memories.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Karen (Montie) Lewis, Joan Grotjahn, Kevin Grotjahn and Bruce Grotjahn; one grandson, Tyler Lewis; brother, Ivan Grotjahn; sister, Gladys Severson; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents and beloved wife, Ruby, Lloyd was preceded in death by his son, Wayne; and brothers, Orrin, Duane and David Grotjahn.

A funeral service for Lloyd will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma Chapel.  Burial will follow at Nelson Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Friday, December 27 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again from 10:00 AM  until the hour of the service all at the funeral home.
