Levi E. Haigh

Levi Haigh passed away on January 24, 2025, at the Beehive Home in Eau Claire at the Age of 91.

He was the oldest child of Eli and Serena (Mueller) Haigh born on September 14, 1933, in Praag, WI. He grew up in the Cream area until he graduated from Cochrane High School in 1951. He then entered the Army during the Korean War. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he went to the Milwaukee School of Engineering and earned a Mechanical Engineering degree. It was while in school on a blind date that he met his future wife Elnora (Ellie) Bothe from Dixon, IL. They were married in 1960.

After they were first married they moved to Seattle, Washington, and that’s where their three children were born: Ellen, Lyle, and Carla. They then moved to Minneapolis, MN, and then finally to Mondovi in 1975.

He worked for Boeing, Honeywell, and SteepleJac where he helped to design a window washer on the tallest building in the world at the time in Chicago. In Mondovi he started up his own sales business: Haigh Supply Company, selling nuts, bolts, and other tools to farmers and townships. He made many close friends and customers selling around the area. He just recently retired in 2018 at the age of 85.

Levi was very devoted to his religion, volunteering in many ways throughout the years. He was a member of Prince of Peace church, and previously at Friendship Church, and Trinity of Norden Lutheran church.

He loved to fish, making many annual trips to Canada with relatives and friends. Levi and Ellie went on many trips, one of the best ones was an Amtrak ride along most of the border of the USA, getting off for a while in New Orleans, Louisiana, reminiscing where they had spent their Honeymoon many years before.

He is survived by his three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Ellen (Tim) Urness, Lyle Haigh, and Carla (Paul) Boatman. Grandchildren: Josh (Claire) Urness and their children Jade and Levi Urness, Zack (Haley Arndt) Urness, and Nick (Kasey Giese) Urness. Carla’s sons: Keenan Blackcoon, Hunter Blackcoon and his daughter Olive Blackcoon, and Eli Blackcoon. He is also survived by all of his siblings: Lois Fetting, Grace (David) Hitt, and Gary (Suzie) Haigh.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ellie Haigh on March 2, 2019, his parents Eli and Serena Haigh, his In-laws John and Irma Bothe, and his brother-in-law Dale Fetting.

Levi’s family would really like to Thank the Beehive Home employees in Eau Claire, plus Ellyn and Ellie of St Croix Hospice. They were all so Wonderful and Caring.
