Lenore A. Hagness, age 89, of Mondovi, died Tuesday, March 27 at the American Lutheran Home of Mondovi
She was born on July 22, 1922 in the Town of Maxville, Buffalo County a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Serum) Larson. Lenore attended Durand High School, graduating with the class of 1939.
On May 4, 1946 Lenore was united in marriage to Glenn Hagness at the Lyster Lutheran Parsonage located in the Town of Nelson, Buffalo County. To this union two children were born. Glenn preceded Lenore in death in 2003.
For 26 years, Lenore was employed at the First National Bank of Mondovi, holding many various positions.
She was a member of Central Lutheran Church, Mondovi where she was an active and devoted member of the Hannah Circle ladies society. She loved to make afgans and quilts, and was proud to give them to her family.
Lenore will be remembered as a quiet, humble and gentle lady who was very modest of her own accomplishments. She was one who led by example, provided positive encouragement to those around her and non-judgmental. Lenore never thought of herself as a leader, but those around her couldn’t think of a leader better than her. She will be dearly missed by all.
Lenore’s legacy will be treasured and will be missed by her son, Robert (Carol) Hagness of Mondovi; daughter, Bonnie (Tom, Significant other) Hagness of Evansville, WI; two grandsons, Christopher (Allison) Hagness of Waterloo, IA and Michael (special companion, Christin) of Somerset, WI; one very special great-granddaughter, Alliandra; three sisters, Charlotte Wild of Milwaukee, Arlene Wahlund of Pepin and Myrna Bucholtz of Durand; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Lenore in death were her parents, husband Glenn, one brother, Wayne and two sisters, Alvina Brantner and Leone Larson.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 2 at 1:00 PM at Central Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf Morck and the Rev. Paul Pillman co-officiating. It was Lenore’s wishes to be cremated and inurnment to follow at Riverside Lutheran Church.
